Daily Devotion: Blessed to Serve

*November 13, 2017* So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. - *Exodus 23:25* The purpose of any product is determined by the manufacturer. Any other use asides the one predetermined by the manufacturer will be grossly underutilizing the product. Our purpose as children of a loving God is that we should serve Him with our totality and all that we have. To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear - *Luke 1:74* This scripture makes it clear that the cardinal reason God invested so much in our salvation is so that “we being free might serve Him”.  We must understand that true service or stewardship is first within, then without. It begins in the heart. God is not so much after our outward show of service. Inasmuch as there are amazing benefits and blessings tied to serving God. We do not serve Him because of those ben...

Why Seek Medical Treatment Abroad

Medical Tourism once extensively centered around arrangement of human services and crisis treatment gave by higher-wage nations to less created countries, has since extended to incorporate patients from many parts of the world to nations with the full scope of medicinal services framework foundation and advancement. Medical Tourism (MT) has turned out to be especially prominent in the Unified States, mostly because of high living expenses and exorbitant wellbeing administrations and care. In the Assembled States, an amazing 50 million individuals are uninsured and over twice the same number of are uninsured for dental care. All things considered, protection may not cover particular medicines and many can't meet the monetary prerequisites indicated for medical techniques that they require.  Hence, Americans have many explanations behind looking for treatment somewhere else - since it has additionally turned out to be less demanding after some time to get the treatment they r...

Jessica Beer, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) II student of Gyegeh Memorial College Logo1, Makurdi, Benue state, has committed suicide. The female student according to sources drank a substance believed to be poison and was rushed to a clinic in Akpehe, before doctors confirmed her dead on arrival. A close friend of the deceased, who would rather want to remain anonymous, told The Nation that the girl committed suicide because her boyfriend by name Labi, a pork meat seller at Wurukum Market in Makurdi impregnated and abandoned her and then impregnated another girl. Residents of Akpehe who were startled by the news rushed to the clinic to catch a glimpse of the remains of the girl.

Article: SELF APPRAISAL

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates” - 1 Corinthians 13:5)? Have you ever sat down to think about what people think about you? or how they think about your work, i.e. If its satisfactory or not? here is what little Tom did.  Little Tom who got regular pay for cutting the lawn of an elderly woman decided one day to prove whether he was satisfying his employer.  He went to a shop to phone the elderly woman, requesting to come and take care of her lawn. The woman replied that she already had an expert handling the job.  He insisted that he would do it free for her to show that he was better at such jobs, but the woman reaffirmed that she was very satisfied with her present service provider and had no need to try another.  Tom smiled at the other end having proved that his job was satisfactory. That was a self-appraisal by Tom....

MARRIAGE is like a Shoe...

"MARRIAGE is like a shoe. When you wear oversize, be ready to drag it along through out life, and when you wear under-size be ready to feel the pains through out life". One thing about marriage is that you don't drop your shoe or remove it at any point, no matter how painful or how stressful it is. That is why I thought it necessary to write you this letter. Dear Singles, When you are ready to buy your own shoe please take note of these three things: 1. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE : Do not look for the beautiful ones, the nice ones or the cheap ones. Look for the one that is your size. Not every handsome, wealthy or intelligent guy is for you, not every beautiful woman is for you. Look for the one that is meant for you, the one that aligns with your values and belief, the one who you meet at your life's journey. It is important to know where you're going in life before you think of getting a wife. 2. POSITION : All sizes of shoes are not placed in the sam...

DEVOTION: POWER PURSUIT

“The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power…” - Daniel 4:30)?  “Alexander the Great was a great warrior who conquered the world before the age of 30 years. He was sad that there was no land more to conquer.  He had control over all the wealth of the world. One of his sick bed wishes before he died at age 33 was that the wealth he had accumulated should be scattered on the road along the procession to the cemetery to let everybody know that material wealth acquired on earth will be left here on earth.”  Many youth seek after material things without seeking to be closer to God. They admire corrupt and godless people some of whom acquire power and wealth from demons.  Power belongs to God and only He can sincerely give us long life to enjoy a little of what we acquire on earth. The abundance of His kingdom is for those who live holy and serve Him now.  As you ...

What Choice do you Have?

"Don't be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God's Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment." John 5:28-29 NLT Both believers and unbelievers will be resurrected from death. But resurrection will bring entirely different results for the two groups. Jesus' words in today's scripture make it clear that some will rise to eternal life . . . others to judgment. Daniel said it this way: Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2 NIV Scriptures describe two resurrections. The first one is for all believers. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will ri...

Devotion - SOWING AND REAPING

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” - Galatians 6:7  A common adage says, “Sow a thought, reap an act; sow an act, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.”  The law of sowing and reaping is universal and applies to all spheres of life. Everyone, including youths reap what they sow.  Youths who sow to sensual living will reap sorrow, pain, frustration, failure and spiritual damnation; while youths who sow to righteousness and obedience to God will reap joy , peace, success, prosperity and eternal life.  Beloved, do you know that your future is dependent on what you are sowing now? The choices you make today will affect your future, therefore, sow wisely.  In your academics, sow self-discipline, diligence, hard work and you will reap excellent results and an enviable career. In your moral life, sow self-control, godly character, moral integrity, an...

Devotion - FORGING FORWARD

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward” - Exodus 14:15  It is unfortunate that many youths do not see the need or have the zeal to move forward in life. Rather, they find a comfort zone at the bottom of the ladder of life.  A story was told of a young man from a very rich home, who completed primary school but chose to waste away his life with vagabond lifestyle, despite his parents’ wish to sponsor him up to university level.  All his mates, including those who were not as bright as he was, made it in their academic pursuits. He ended up an outcast, and by the time he came back to his senses and returned to persuade his parents to send him to school, alcohol had damaged his brain. It is not God’s desire that you remain static in your plans but that you make steady progress. God does not expect you to remain the same way over the years without moving forward.  Striv...

Why Some Men Don't Forgive Cheating Wife

A married man might be hearing dirty stuffs about his wife and will keep his cool, but the day he catches her in the act, one way or the other, everything changes.  In her lone moments, 38yrs old Kolawole Busola, (real name withheld) would certainly wish she could undo the string of events that led her into the waiting arms of a bad guy Daniels, a colleague at work.  Married to a businessman, Babatope, 43, who travels frequently without much time for romance for their love and intimacy to grow, Busola still has herself to blame for what she has got herself into. How did she land in bed with the guy?  Her undoing was sharing her worries with a male colleague who she thought would offered wise counsel but he saw her as opportunity for free s*x. They became close and started going out together.  She did it so well that her husband never suspected anything. Not long after, their friendship became platonic (intimate and affectionate) and few months aft...

Man Cries Out as He is Sentenced to Jail for fetching Rain Water

Gary Harrington of Eagle Point, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and to pay a fine of $1,500, all because he had three reservoirs on his own property, that he used to collect and use rainwater. Harrington says he plans to appeal the conviction in the Jackson County Circuit Court. That conviction revolved around nine misdemeanor charges that come from a 1925 law. That archaic ordinance bans what state water managers called “illegal reservoirs.” “The government is bullying,” Harrington said in an CNS News, last Thursday. “They’ve just gotten to be big bullies and if you just lay over and die and give up, that just makes them bigger bullies. So, we as Americans, we need to stand on our constitutional rights, on our rights as citizens and hang tough. This is a good country, we’ll prevail,” he added. It all started back in 2002, when Harrington was attacked for having three “reservoirs” (ponds) on his large 170 acres of land. But the state claims that collecting water requi...

Power Thought - No Excuses

And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of [fearless] courage. —Judges 6:12  My dear friend, ain't you tired of giving one excuse or the other? In the book of Judges, God decided to work through a man named Gideon to deliver the Israelites from captivity. But when the angel came to call Gideon, Gideon began rehearsing a list of his inabilities, including reasons why he thought he could not do what God was calling him to do.  In Judges 6:14 God says, Have I not sent you? In other words, “Would I ask you to do something I haven’t equipped you to do?” And again, in the next verse, Gideon responds with excuses—I’m too poor, too small, too weak. Because words have power, Gideon believed what he said about himself more than the encouraging words of the Lord.  Stop thinking of excuses or things to complain about—It’s too hard; I’ve never done this before; this isn’t what I had planned; I don’t know ho...

Daily Devotion - Watch Your Heart

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).  On a certain day, Samuel the prophet went to the house of Jesse to anoint one of the sons of Jesse to become king of Israel. As soon as Samuel saw Eliab, Jesse’s first son, he said, "Behold the Lord’s anointed is before Him," and wanted to anoint Eliab to be the king. But God stopped Samuel and said, "I have refused him." God didn’t say, "I have not chosen him"; if He had said so, that would have been rather okay, because He had the right to choose whomever He wanted to be king. However, He said, "I have rejected him," meaning that He considered Eliab and found him unsuitable. God must have seen something in his heart that made him unfit to be king; none of his other brothers were chosen...

Daily Devotion - BETTER DAYS

TODAY'S VERSE : The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.(Proverbs 4:18, NLT) TODAY'S WORD : Are you facing a situation that seems dark today? As a believer, God promises that your path will shine brighter and brighter as you seek His truth and righteousness in every situation.  What is righteousness?  Righteousness is simply being in right standing with God. Being in right standing with God happens when you surrender every area of your life to Him. It’s about obeying His commands and seeking His plan for your life on a daily basis.  No matter what you may be facing today, take time to ask the Lord to shine His light on you. Ask Him to confirm His plan for you. As you continue pursuing His truth and righteousness, as you continue to make His Word a priority, you will experience more of Him and His blessings. You’ll see those brighter days as you move forward in the good plan H...

Daily Devotion - Time and Attention

Bible Reading 1 Peter 3:1-7  Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Colossians 2:19 (ESV)  Lack of time and attention is one of the reasons marriages head for trouble today. It’s true that there are a lot of things that take up our time more than ever in the 21st century; pursuing a means of livelihood, running a business, the hustle and bustle of living in a busy city and so on. In all of this, however, you must create time for your spouse. Talk to your spouse. Be on the lookout for opportunities to give your spouse an affirming word. When your spouse needs your listening ear, give your full attention. Don’t get comfortable with being so busy that you begin to neglect your spouse. When you give your spouse time and attention, you will become better friends. You will know and understand each other better. Friends tend to extend grace, forgiveness and kindness towards one another and they have fun together too.  TAKE ACTION When next you...
