Power Thought - No Excuses

And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of [fearless] courage. —Judges 6:12  My dear friend, ain't you tired of giving one excuse or the other? In the book of Judges, God decided to work through a man named Gideon to deliver the Israelites from captivity. But when the angel came to call Gideon, Gideon began rehearsing a list of his inabilities, including reasons why he thought he could not do what God was calling him to do.  In Judges 6:14 God says, Have I not sent you? In other words, “Would I ask you to do something I haven’t equipped you to do?” And again, in the next verse, Gideon responds with excuses—I’m too poor, too small, too weak. Because words have power, Gideon believed what he said about himself more than the encouraging words of the Lord.  Stop thinking of excuses or things to complain about—It’s too hard; I’ve never done this before; this isn’t what I had planned; I don’t know how; I’m too old/

Daily Devotion - The Reason Belivers are Sick

Have you ever wondered why some Christians are weak and sick, and die young? I thank God that the Holy Spirit gives us the reason as well as the solution. In 1 Corinthians 11:29–30, He tells us clearly that the one reason some Christians are weak and sick, and die prematurely, is that they don’t discern the Lord’s body when they partake of the Holy Communion.  Many believers don’t understand that the pierced, striped and slightly burnt bread, which represents the Lord’s body, is for their health and healing. And when they partake without discerning this truth, they partake in an unworthy manner. The reverse is true: If they discern accurately the Lord’s body, then they will be strong and healthy, and live long.  Unfortunately, the church down through the years has misconstrued this teaching and taught that if you have sin in your life, you are unworthy and cannot partake of the Holy Communion, lest you become weak and sick, and even die! We have turned a blessing into a cur

Article - Who is a Woman????

The bible said that in the beginning God created man and having seen that all he did was fine he made man to sleep and removed one of his ribs to create a woman. From this view point we can deduce that God created a woman to be by the side of the man not above neither to be under him. After creation man was lonely and needed a help therefore the need for a woman. If a woman was created to help a man we can also theorise that a woman is stronger than a man in some aspects. Suffice it to say that no one seeks help from a weaker being. Where and how is a woman stronger than a man, since man is physically stronger than the woman? The answer is in the indispensability of the woman. The tale that follows will help us reach a decision.   Who is a woman??? I think one of the unfortunate traits of human nature is that we feel a need to categorize people and this is evident in how we categorize women. We limit them and we say that she is, “that kind of woman,” and that kind of woman

Daily Devotion - HONOR HIS NAME

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, irreverently, in false affirmations or in ways that impugn the character of God]; for the Lord will not hold guiltless nor leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain [disregarding its reverence and its power]." (Exodus 20:7 AMP) Thoughts for Today:  The first of the Ten Commandments states that we are to have no other gods. We are to worship only the one true God. The second commandment tells us to worship no idols, to worship God properly. Today we will look at the third commandment, which tells us not to misuse the name of the Lord our God. This commandment emphasizes right thinking about the name of the Lord. He commands and deserves the greatest respect for his name. It is a privilege for us to use his name, and we must always honor it. Most of us understand this commandment prohibits profanity and blasphemy. However, it has broader application. We break this commandment anytime we take the

Daily Devotion - Watch Your Heart

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).  On a certain day, Samuel the prophet went to the house of Jesse to anoint one of the sons of Jesse to become king of Israel. As soon as Samuel saw Eliab, Jesse’s first son, he said, "Behold the Lord’s anointed is before Him," and wanted to anoint Eliab to be the king. But God stopped Samuel and said, "I have refused him." God didn’t say, "I have not chosen him"; if He had said so, that would have been rather okay, because He had the right to choose whomever He wanted to be king. However, He said, "I have rejected him," meaning that He considered Eliab and found him unsuitable. God must have seen something in his heart that made him unfit to be king; none of his other brothers were chosen

Daily Devotion - BETTER DAYS

TODAY'S VERSE : The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.(Proverbs 4:18, NLT) TODAY'S WORD : Are you facing a situation that seems dark today? As a believer, God promises that your path will shine brighter and brighter as you seek His truth and righteousness in every situation.  What is righteousness?  Righteousness is simply being in right standing with God. Being in right standing with God happens when you surrender every area of your life to Him. It’s about obeying His commands and seeking His plan for your life on a daily basis.  No matter what you may be facing today, take time to ask the Lord to shine His light on you. Ask Him to confirm His plan for you. As you continue pursuing His truth and righteousness, as you continue to make His Word a priority, you will experience more of Him and His blessings. You’ll see those brighter days as you move forward in the good plan He has

Daily Devotion - Time and Attention

Bible Reading 1 Peter 3:1-7  Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Colossians 2:19 (ESV)  Lack of time and attention is one of the reasons marriages head for trouble today. It’s true that there are a lot of things that take up our time more than ever in the 21st century; pursuing a means of livelihood, running a business, the hustle and bustle of living in a busy city and so on. In all of this, however, you must create time for your spouse. Talk to your spouse. Be on the lookout for opportunities to give your spouse an affirming word. When your spouse needs your listening ear, give your full attention. Don’t get comfortable with being so busy that you begin to neglect your spouse. When you give your spouse time and attention, you will become better friends. You will know and understand each other better. Friends tend to extend grace, forgiveness and kindness towards one another and they have fun together too.  TAKE ACTION When next your spouse needs
