The Inspector general of police Solomon Arase has issued a circular ban of police officers from illegally accessing of the mobile phones of civilians. Officer in charge of Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the Nigeria Police, Abayomi Shogunle mentioned this on his tweeter page today.

The Police in Bayelsa say a policeman attached to the state Command died of gunshot wounds following a gun duel with robbers in Yenagoa on New Year day. Mr Asinim Butswat, a DSP, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that a five-man robbery gang had attacked and robbed one Evelyn Patrick at Agudama area of Yenagoa on that fateful day shooting dead one Mr Victor Abule, 23, in the process. He explained that as the robbers tried to escape, they were engaged in a gun duel by a police officer, who shot dead one of them. “A police officer confronted the armed men and shot dead one of them as they were escaping. “The officer sustained gunshot wounds and he was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died.
