People get married for so many reasons; some don’t even know why they should get married, while some don’t even wish to. I was opportune to ask a friend this question. And she gave me some reasons am going to share and you will tell me if she is right or if there are more to that. First and foremost, WHAT IS MARRIAGE? The word marriage has different meaning and different perspectives. According to the English dictionary, MARRIAGE is a union between two or more people usually to the exclusion of others. The Bible defines Marriage as a Holy Union between a man and a woman for eternity in the presence of God. But what is the reason behind getting married? Why is it so important? It was a funny sight to behold after this photo became viral on the social media sphere of a young bride getting wedded to a white mannequin which stood in the place of her fiance who is purportedly based abroad. According to some people who know the lady, she has been dating the guy whom she met on the Internet and has never seen him before. After much pressure from her parents to get married, she and the young man arranged to have their traditional wedding but since he would not be around, they sought a replacement but with no man willing to take his place, they settled for the mannequin, though many have questioned their decision to use a white mannequin for the groom. Most opinions on this issue are largely deduced from what was reported in the media. And so, this latest effort of mine is no exception. The interest here (for me) are the lessons therein. An Egyptian blogger has reportedly been sentenced to three years in jail with hard labour over stereotypical statements made on National Television. The blogger, Taymour el-Sobki reportedly claimed on national television that 30% of Egyptian wives would cheat on their husbands if they had the chance leading to the charge of ‘spreading false news’. The Egyptian court responsible for El-Sobki's sentencing claims that his comments had the potential to "harm public peace and damage the public interest." The blogger has reportedly suffered serious backlash from other TV talk show hosts as well as civilians who have filed complaints to public prosecutors with El-Sobki being accused of insulting Egyptian women. In a fairly interesting unforeseen development, a lady has pledged against men and wedded her pet Dog. 47 year old. Amanda Rodgers from Brixton in south London was married to a man 20 years back, however the relationship lamentably endured close to a couple short months, so dissapointed she chose to swear against men and swing to Dogs. Amanda states that she chose to marry her pet Dog because in light of the fact that she had every one of the qualities that she was searching for in a man: "Sheba had been a major part of my life for a considerable length of time, making me laugh and consoling me when I was feeling sad."
