Devotion - SOWING AND REAPING

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” - Galatians 6:7  A common adage says, “Sow a thought, reap an act; sow an act, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.”  The law of sowing and reaping is universal and applies to all spheres of life. Everyone, including youths reap what they sow.  Youths who sow to sensual living will reap sorrow, pain, frustration, failure and spiritual damnation; while youths who sow to righteousness and obedience to God will reap joy , peace, success, prosperity and eternal life.  Beloved, do you know that your future is dependent on what you are sowing now? The choices you make today will affect your future, therefore, sow wisely.  In your academics, sow self-discipline, diligence, hard work and you will reap excellent results and an enviable career. In your moral life, sow self-control, godly character, moral integrity, an...

Devotion - FORGING FORWARD

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward” - Exodus 14:15  It is unfortunate that many youths do not see the need or have the zeal to move forward in life. Rather, they find a comfort zone at the bottom of the ladder of life.  A story was told of a young man from a very rich home, who completed primary school but chose to waste away his life with vagabond lifestyle, despite his parents’ wish to sponsor him up to university level.  All his mates, including those who were not as bright as he was, made it in their academic pursuits. He ended up an outcast, and by the time he came back to his senses and returned to persuade his parents to send him to school, alcohol had damaged his brain. It is not God’s desire that you remain static in your plans but that you make steady progress. God does not expect you to remain the same way over the years without moving forward.  Striv...

Devotion - Why This Challenges

Challenges are normal to life. Jesus Christ prepared our minds for potential challenges, with an assurance of victory.  The first way to know that you are not prepared for life is to run away from challenges. Challenges are stepping stones to greater heights in life. ` Whatever you are facing is common to human life, but you can trust God to bring you out. The level to which you are surprised at challenges is the level to which you are unprepared.  You need to communize your problems by revelation and by faith. Thinking differently is critical to your permanent victory. Your mind is your world. As your mind is; so is your world. 'As a man thinks in his heart, so is he…' Proverbs 23:7A.  Work on your mind and your mind will work on your challenges. Winning starts from your mind and not from outside you.  Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, w...

Devotion - UNPREDICTABLE LIFE

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” - Psalms 90:12 In the 2003 US Women’s Open, Hilary Lunke stunned the sports world when she won the greatest prize in women’s golf. She did not only win the US Open in an 18-hole playoff, but that was her only professional victory which gave her a place in the history of world sports. Hilary’s stunning victory demonstrates the unpredictability of sports. Also in the field of academics, Ben Carson rose from a near school drop out to a renowned world Neuro-Surgeon. This should be a challenge to every youth. Life is unpredictable. No one can predict his/her life with absolute certainty, except God. As you make plans for your life, you must put God in the center. He knows you beyond your predictions. His thoughts for you are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Surrender your life to Christ today and live for Him. Depend wholly on God as you live your life, and He will guide y...

Devotional - RIGHT THE WRONG

“For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me” - Psalms 51:3 Youths by their impulsive nature are prone to wrong decisions and choices in their academics, career, and relationships. The consequences of such decisions could be tragic, plunging the victim into regrets, disappointments and failure. Some youths have been victims of drop out of school syndrome, drug addiction, cultism, alcoholism and sometimes, mental breakdown because of wrong decisions and choices. Dear youth, are you in this condition? Take a cue from someone who said: “If you have made mistakes, there’s always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you chose, for this thing we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down but the staying down.” Like King David in our text, humbly acknowledge and confess your faults to God, your parents and others who have been affected by your wrong decisions and actions. Don’t allow your past mistakes to hinder your future progress. Se...

Daily Devotion - HONOR HIS NAME

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, irreverently, in false affirmations or in ways that impugn the character of God]; for the Lord will not hold guiltless nor leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain [disregarding its reverence and its power]." (Exodus 20:7 AMP) Thoughts for Today:  The first of the Ten Commandments states that we are to have no other gods. We are to worship only the one true God. The second commandment tells us to worship no idols, to worship God properly. Today we will look at the third commandment, which tells us not to misuse the name of the Lord our God. This commandment emphasizes right thinking about the name of the Lord. He commands and deserves the greatest respect for his name. It is a privilege for us to use his name, and we must always honor it. Most of us understand this commandment prohibits profanity and blasphemy. However, it has broader application. We break this commandment anytime we take the ...

Daily Devotion - Watch Your Heart

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).  On a certain day, Samuel the prophet went to the house of Jesse to anoint one of the sons of Jesse to become king of Israel. As soon as Samuel saw Eliab, Jesse’s first son, he said, "Behold the Lord’s anointed is before Him," and wanted to anoint Eliab to be the king. But God stopped Samuel and said, "I have refused him." God didn’t say, "I have not chosen him"; if He had said so, that would have been rather okay, because He had the right to choose whomever He wanted to be king. However, He said, "I have rejected him," meaning that He considered Eliab and found him unsuitable. God must have seen something in his heart that made him unfit to be king; none of his other brothers were chosen...

Daily Devotion - BETTER DAYS

TODAY'S VERSE : The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.(Proverbs 4:18, NLT) TODAY'S WORD : Are you facing a situation that seems dark today? As a believer, God promises that your path will shine brighter and brighter as you seek His truth and righteousness in every situation.  What is righteousness?  Righteousness is simply being in right standing with God. Being in right standing with God happens when you surrender every area of your life to Him. It’s about obeying His commands and seeking His plan for your life on a daily basis.  No matter what you may be facing today, take time to ask the Lord to shine His light on you. Ask Him to confirm His plan for you. As you continue pursuing His truth and righteousness, as you continue to make His Word a priority, you will experience more of Him and His blessings. You’ll see those brighter days as you move forward in the good plan H...

Daily Devotion - Time and Attention

Bible Reading 1 Peter 3:1-7  Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Colossians 2:19 (ESV)  Lack of time and attention is one of the reasons marriages head for trouble today. It’s true that there are a lot of things that take up our time more than ever in the 21st century; pursuing a means of livelihood, running a business, the hustle and bustle of living in a busy city and so on. In all of this, however, you must create time for your spouse. Talk to your spouse. Be on the lookout for opportunities to give your spouse an affirming word. When your spouse needs your listening ear, give your full attention. Don’t get comfortable with being so busy that you begin to neglect your spouse. When you give your spouse time and attention, you will become better friends. You will know and understand each other better. Friends tend to extend grace, forgiveness and kindness towards one another and they have fun together too.  TAKE ACTION When next you...

Why We Need Understanding Part 2

The Lack of understanding of God’s words and His ways makes a believer look like a sinner (Pro. 21:16).   As a result, he will abide in the congregation of the dead, suffering. it is the ways of God that commands the act of God! How to get Understanding Engage your spirit man. The reason many are frustrated in church is that they have not come to understand the system or ways of grasping the truth. When you are not in the spirit, you cannot appreciate any truth of scriptures. You have to be in the spirit to appreciate the truth being communicated to you (Rev. 1:10; 4:1-2) .The pursuit of revelation or understanding, it is required that you be in the spirit. You can’t find God with your head; you can only find God with your heart ( 1Cor. 2:11-13 ). It is with your spirit that you can grasp the things that are freely given to you of God, because the Holy spirit can only communicate with your spirit, not with your soul ( Rom 8:16 ). The spirit of man is the candle...

Do You Love Him?

God so loved the world that He gave Jesus - ( John 3:16). And Jesus so loved us that He gave Himself for us - Rom 5:5, John 15:13 . It involves sacrifice and depicts laying down your own desires for the benefit of mankind, especially your nation. That is, giving up your own will and time to pray for the peace, unity and progress of this nation. Love is a spiritual catalyst that empowers the purposeful and people-oriented leadership that transforms a nation. Read More: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW Whosoever loves God should also love his nation by praying for her peace, unity and socio-economic advancement - Ps 122:6-8. Nehemiah prayed and fasted for the restoration of glory and colour of Jerusalem – ( Neh 1:4 -11). Daniel also prayed and fasted for the freedom of his nation from captivity - Dan 9:3-20 . It is good and acceptable in the sight of God to pray and intercede for the peace of our nation and for those in authority - 1Tim 2:2-3. For the sake of love for ...

HOW TO ACHIEVED FREEDOM

Salvation of humanity from the evil in this world and the world to come is the greatest miracle of all ages. That Jesus came to die for humanity and spilled his blood on earth for the remission of our sin is the greatest news of all times. “ Act 10:43 says “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins”. “ Act 26:18 to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me” . Jesus was anointed to put an end to all works of the devil, ( Act10:38). With resurrection, Christ is risen with greater power and glory to put an end to all oppressions of wickedness against those that embrace this truth and follow after Him………. And Jesus came (after resurrection) and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth ( Mtt 28...

Are We all Christians?

Christianity is the  world's largest religion ,  with over 2.4 billion adherents, known as  Christians .  Christians believe that Jesus is the  Son of God  and the  savior of humanity  whose coming as  Christ  or the  Messiah  was prophesied in the  Old Testament .  "What is a Christian?" A dictionary definition of a Christian would be something similar to “a person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ or in the religion based on the teachings of Jesus.” While this is a good starting point, like many dictionary definitions, it falls somewhat short of really communicating the biblical truth of what it means to be a Christian. The word “Christian” is used three times in the New Testament ( Acts 11:26 ;  26:28 ;  1 Peter 4:16 ). Followers of Jesus Christ were first called “Christians” in Antioch ( Acts 11:26 ) because their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ. The word “Christian”...

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Today am going to share a few secrets with you, there are somethings we don't know we can accomplish when we are in Christ.  We call ourselves Christians, but not all of us knows what that really means. I will discuss more on that on my next post. If you have received Jesus Christ as your personal  Savior, you can be certain of these things: You are a child of God. “ But as many as received him, he gave right to become the children of God, even to those who believe in his name ” ( Jn.1:12 ). You are forgiven and justified. “ He has…forgiven you all trespasses” ( Col.2:13 ); “ Justified freely by His grace through redemption that is in Christ Jesus ” ( Rom.3:4 ). You have new life from God. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new”(2Cor.5:17) You are saved for eternity. He who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has ...
