Devotion - SOWING AND REAPING

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” - Galatians 6:7  A common adage says, “Sow a thought, reap an act; sow an act, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.”  The law of sowing and reaping is universal and applies to all spheres of life. Everyone, including youths reap what they sow.  Youths who sow to sensual living will reap sorrow, pain, frustration, failure and spiritual damnation; while youths who sow to righteousness and obedience to God will reap joy , peace, success, prosperity and eternal life.  Beloved, do you know that your future is dependent on what you are sowing now? The choices you make today will affect your future, therefore, sow wisely.  In your academics, sow self-discipline, diligence, hard work and you will reap excellent results and an enviable career. In your moral life, sow self-control, godly character, moral integrity, an...

Devotion - FORGING FORWARD

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward” - Exodus 14:15  It is unfortunate that many youths do not see the need or have the zeal to move forward in life. Rather, they find a comfort zone at the bottom of the ladder of life.  A story was told of a young man from a very rich home, who completed primary school but chose to waste away his life with vagabond lifestyle, despite his parents’ wish to sponsor him up to university level.  All his mates, including those who were not as bright as he was, made it in their academic pursuits. He ended up an outcast, and by the time he came back to his senses and returned to persuade his parents to send him to school, alcohol had damaged his brain. It is not God’s desire that you remain static in your plans but that you make steady progress. God does not expect you to remain the same way over the years without moving forward.  Striv...

Devotion - Why This Challenges

Challenges are normal to life. Jesus Christ prepared our minds for potential challenges, with an assurance of victory.  The first way to know that you are not prepared for life is to run away from challenges. Challenges are stepping stones to greater heights in life. ` Whatever you are facing is common to human life, but you can trust God to bring you out. The level to which you are surprised at challenges is the level to which you are unprepared.  You need to communize your problems by revelation and by faith. Thinking differently is critical to your permanent victory. Your mind is your world. As your mind is; so is your world. 'As a man thinks in his heart, so is he…' Proverbs 23:7A.  Work on your mind and your mind will work on your challenges. Winning starts from your mind and not from outside you.  Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, w...

Devotion - UNPREDICTABLE LIFE

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” - Psalms 90:12 In the 2003 US Women’s Open, Hilary Lunke stunned the sports world when she won the greatest prize in women’s golf. She did not only win the US Open in an 18-hole playoff, but that was her only professional victory which gave her a place in the history of world sports. Hilary’s stunning victory demonstrates the unpredictability of sports. Also in the field of academics, Ben Carson rose from a near school drop out to a renowned world Neuro-Surgeon. This should be a challenge to every youth. Life is unpredictable. No one can predict his/her life with absolute certainty, except God. As you make plans for your life, you must put God in the center. He knows you beyond your predictions. His thoughts for you are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Surrender your life to Christ today and live for Him. Depend wholly on God as you live your life, and He will guide y...

Devotional - RIGHT THE WRONG

“For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me” - Psalms 51:3 Youths by their impulsive nature are prone to wrong decisions and choices in their academics, career, and relationships. The consequences of such decisions could be tragic, plunging the victim into regrets, disappointments and failure. Some youths have been victims of drop out of school syndrome, drug addiction, cultism, alcoholism and sometimes, mental breakdown because of wrong decisions and choices. Dear youth, are you in this condition? Take a cue from someone who said: “If you have made mistakes, there’s always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you chose, for this thing we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down but the staying down.” Like King David in our text, humbly acknowledge and confess your faults to God, your parents and others who have been affected by your wrong decisions and actions. Don’t allow your past mistakes to hinder your future progress. Se...

Devotion - FREEDOM FOR A FIGHTER

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” - Matthew 19:26  Former heavyweight boxing champion, George Foreman, was a heavy drinker. He drank anything from water to spirit.  But, as he recounts in his book, God in My Corner, on one of his birthdays, he got so drunk that he could not remember what happened that night.  The next day, he ran into his friend who had been badly beaten up and had a swollen eye and other bruises. He asked what happened.  “Don’t you remember?” the friend retorted. “You beat me up last night!” That stunned George and shook him so much that he decided to never take another drink of alcohol in his life.  Do you have a bad habit which you think is difficult to quit? Yours could be indulgence in examination malpractice, disobedience or insubordination to your parents or school authority, involvement in cultism, drug addiction, careless use of your to...

Nollywood Actress Patience Ozokwor Condems Wearing of Trousers by Women

We have heard a lot of Nollywood actors and actress giving their life to Christ but we don't usually see it last till the end. lastly it was Jim Iyke now its Mama G. Lets hope this is real this time. Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor popularly known in the movie fraternity as Mama G who is now born again to the extent of preaching the Gospel has criticized the wearing of trousers by women, saying it is highly ungodly.  She asserted that it makes men sin against God. “When we wear trousers, we make men desire us and make them fall into sin” she said.  This conversation ensued when she was interviewed by Encomium magazine. She added that: “Yes, I don’t wear trousers again. No more weave on, no more make up. Naturally, I am not a makeup person. You see me in make up when I am in the movie. That has been my nature.  Even if I make up, I like it light, except it was made by somebody else for an occasion. Christ told me to put off certain things because they don...

Power Thought - No Excuses

And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of [fearless] courage. —Judges 6:12  My dear friend, ain't you tired of giving one excuse or the other? In the book of Judges, God decided to work through a man named Gideon to deliver the Israelites from captivity. But when the angel came to call Gideon, Gideon began rehearsing a list of his inabilities, including reasons why he thought he could not do what God was calling him to do.  In Judges 6:14 God says, Have I not sent you? In other words, “Would I ask you to do something I haven’t equipped you to do?” And again, in the next verse, Gideon responds with excuses—I’m too poor, too small, too weak. Because words have power, Gideon believed what he said about himself more than the encouraging words of the Lord.  Stop thinking of excuses or things to complain about—It’s too hard; I’ve never done this before; this isn’t what I had planned; I don’t know ho...

Daily Devotion - The Reason Belivers are Sick

Have you ever wondered why some Christians are weak and sick, and die young? I thank God that the Holy Spirit gives us the reason as well as the solution. In 1 Corinthians 11:29–30, He tells us clearly that the one reason some Christians are weak and sick, and die prematurely, is that they don’t discern the Lord’s body when they partake of the Holy Communion.  Many believers don’t understand that the pierced, striped and slightly burnt bread, which represents the Lord’s body, is for their health and healing. And when they partake without discerning this truth, they partake in an unworthy manner. The reverse is true: If they discern accurately the Lord’s body, then they will be strong and healthy, and live long.  Unfortunately, the church down through the years has misconstrued this teaching and taught that if you have sin in your life, you are unworthy and cannot partake of the Holy Communion, lest you become weak and sick, and even die! We have turned a blessing i...

Daily Devotion - HONOR HIS NAME

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, irreverently, in false affirmations or in ways that impugn the character of God]; for the Lord will not hold guiltless nor leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain [disregarding its reverence and its power]." (Exodus 20:7 AMP) Thoughts for Today:  The first of the Ten Commandments states that we are to have no other gods. We are to worship only the one true God. The second commandment tells us to worship no idols, to worship God properly. Today we will look at the third commandment, which tells us not to misuse the name of the Lord our God. This commandment emphasizes right thinking about the name of the Lord. He commands and deserves the greatest respect for his name. It is a privilege for us to use his name, and we must always honor it. Most of us understand this commandment prohibits profanity and blasphemy. However, it has broader application. We break this commandment anytime we take the ...

Daily Devotion - Watch Your Heart

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).  On a certain day, Samuel the prophet went to the house of Jesse to anoint one of the sons of Jesse to become king of Israel. As soon as Samuel saw Eliab, Jesse’s first son, he said, "Behold the Lord’s anointed is before Him," and wanted to anoint Eliab to be the king. But God stopped Samuel and said, "I have refused him." God didn’t say, "I have not chosen him"; if He had said so, that would have been rather okay, because He had the right to choose whomever He wanted to be king. However, He said, "I have rejected him," meaning that He considered Eliab and found him unsuitable. God must have seen something in his heart that made him unfit to be king; none of his other brothers were chosen...

Daily Devotion - BETTER DAYS

TODAY'S VERSE : The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.(Proverbs 4:18, NLT) TODAY'S WORD : Are you facing a situation that seems dark today? As a believer, God promises that your path will shine brighter and brighter as you seek His truth and righteousness in every situation.  What is righteousness?  Righteousness is simply being in right standing with God. Being in right standing with God happens when you surrender every area of your life to Him. It’s about obeying His commands and seeking His plan for your life on a daily basis.  No matter what you may be facing today, take time to ask the Lord to shine His light on you. Ask Him to confirm His plan for you. As you continue pursuing His truth and righteousness, as you continue to make His Word a priority, you will experience more of Him and His blessings. You’ll see those brighter days as you move forward in the good plan H...

Daily Devotion - Time and Attention

Bible Reading 1 Peter 3:1-7  Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Colossians 2:19 (ESV)  Lack of time and attention is one of the reasons marriages head for trouble today. It’s true that there are a lot of things that take up our time more than ever in the 21st century; pursuing a means of livelihood, running a business, the hustle and bustle of living in a busy city and so on. In all of this, however, you must create time for your spouse. Talk to your spouse. Be on the lookout for opportunities to give your spouse an affirming word. When your spouse needs your listening ear, give your full attention. Don’t get comfortable with being so busy that you begin to neglect your spouse. When you give your spouse time and attention, you will become better friends. You will know and understand each other better. Friends tend to extend grace, forgiveness and kindness towards one another and they have fun together too.  TAKE ACTION When next you...

Commanding The Supernatural Via the Word

Everything you need to succeed and have amazing breakthrough in life is already documented in the Bible waiting for your discovery. God has said something about that area of your life in which you desire to search it out. It takes the word to gain mastery in the world Most of the troubles that believers encounter are predominantly due to ignorance of their redemptive rights (Hosea 4:6) . That you are a child of God alone does not guarantee your victory in the battles of life. You need relevant knowledge of God’s word to generate power for unending breakthrough in whatever area the enemy is challenging your faith. Your personal understanding of what words says over every situation is what enables you to gain mystery over life’s situations. The knowledge of God’s word that you have about that situation will give you victory over it. Evils come through sin and ignorance Of the two, ignorance is more pathetic. Ignorance is a deadly enemy of victory. If you are ignorant of g...
