“The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power…”
- Daniel 4:30)?
“Alexander the Great was a great warrior who conquered the world before the age of 30 years. He was sad that there was no land more to conquer.
He had control over all the wealth of the world. One of his sick bed wishes before he died at age 33 was that the wealth he had accumulated should be scattered on the road along the procession to the cemetery to let everybody know that material wealth acquired on earth will be left here on earth.”
Many youth seek after material things without seeking to be closer to God. They admire corrupt and godless people some of whom acquire power and wealth from demons.
Power belongs to God and only He can sincerely give us long life to enjoy a little of what we acquire on earth. The abundance of His kingdom is for those who live holy and serve Him now.
As you pursue your academics or vocation, remember that the most important thing is to seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness.
Challenge: Power without purity is a two edged sword without handle.
Prayer: Lord, curtail my ungodly pursuits.
